Botulinum Toxin (widely known as BOTOX) is a anti wrinkle treatment that is injected superficially into layers of the skin to specifically target certain muscles to temporarily restrict their movement. This reduces the signs of wrinkles and results in a rejuvenated refreshed wrinkle free appearance.
By blocking a chemical called Acetylcholine what causes the muscle to contract, the muscle becomes temporarily relaxed. This is not a permanent treatment however, and movement normally returns between 3-6 months.
Not only is botulinum toxin a great anti wrinkle treatment, it can also be used to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), tension migraines, gummy smiles and jawline slimming.
